1. Open Pidgin.
2. Click on Accounts –> Manage Accounts –> Add window of Pidgin.
3. Fill the following details under Basics tab:
-Protocol: Google Talk
-Username: enter your Google ID
(user name without the "@gmail.com")
-Password: Enter your gmail account password
-Tick the remember password option.
4. Now start chatting :)
